The Shaft says buy a new computer, muthah fuckah.

Dude FOUND this computer on a sidewalk. Which should tell you something. Then he's upset and wants help because he reformatted the 98 machine for NTFS and put 2k on it because Visual Studio won't run on 98, and the machine now locks up all the time. He also claims the machine was "fine" until he did this. Yes. A likely story.

And it's like look, it could be half a dozen things that need to be repaired or replaced if you're not willing to reformat the thing for FAT32.

Maybe that's why it's on the street corner, yo. Was it TRASH day when you found that thing?

(Thanks to M.L.S. for the story)

See, that sounds just like my dad, picking computers out of the trash. Except that my dad knows what he's doing to them and manages to bring them back to life, better than they were in the first place. If you can't do that, you shouldn't be trash-picking. :)
